URGENT Special General Meeting
Posted: 11 September 2019
In accordance with the Articles of Association, a Special General Meeting has been called on 8th October 2019 to discuss the future of the Frances Folk Gathering.
The current situation is that CUB/Bulmers have withdrawn their sponsorship and the Committee has at this stage, despite significant ongoing effort, been unable to secure alternative funding. The CUB/Bulmers sponsorship had already significantly reduced over the last three years and it has become increasingly difficult to raise the funds required. The Gathering is free to attend and so, unlike many other Festivals, has no revenue from ticket sales and has relied on some Council support, sponsorship and fundraising.
Costs of staging the Gathering have increased significantly due to increased cost of infrastructure hire and at this point there in insufficient funding to stage the planned Gathering in February 2020.
Unless a significant sponsor or other funding source can be identified and acquired, there will be no Gathering in 2020 and the Frances Folk Gathering Incorporated will be wound up.
Anyone who has an interest in the Gathering is invited to attend the Special General Meeting to discuss the current situation and decide the future of this much-loved event.
