NEWSLETTER 3 - Date February 17th 2008
Greetings FFG'ers,
This will be our last mailout before the big event.
Well, the wonderful Frances Gathering rolls along. Now less than a week to go and all's looking good – honest! Sure we've had some hiccups but you know how it is – just burst a brown paper bag with a loud bang then drink your tipple backwards and you still have hiccups… There's been heaps of hard work done by a great crew (always room for more to join us) so ta to every one of 'em!
The 2008 Gathering is back next weekend (Feb 22nd – 24th) in the tiny town of Frances on the Vic-SA border – 50 clicks south of Bordertown. Yes the acts will be as brilliant as ever but you'll know it's the crowd that really makes it happen – people like you just getting along to be part of the Gathering and not just at it! Bring your friends, your family, your wit and your friendship and have a ball.
Now in its ninth year, it's fun, family and the events are still FREE! And there's basic camping at $7/person/night and excellent food.
We've got the Bluegrass Bash with Hardrive, the Art Show, a renowned singer-songwriter, the meeting of the SA & Vic Trade Union choirs, a dozen workshops, over $8,000 worth of prizes in competitions, the FFM (the future-folk marquee) for non-oldies - AND the infamous Sunday afternoon Mixed Grill – oh, and the company, and the sessions, the dancing and concerts, and the poetry, and the stalls, and whatever you care to make of it all.
Apology - the naked musicians' president, knee appreciation seeker and lonely planet-gazer - aka Mossie - will be attending.
And remember... 2009 will be the Tenth Birthday Gathering so note the dates now - February 20th-22nd 2009.
Keep an eye on the website www.francesfolkgathering.com.au for the latest updates and please pass on the word about getting your friends signed up for the newsletter (go to http://francesfolkgathering.com.au/mailinglist/ to sign up)
