11th Annual Frances Folk Gathering coming up 26-28 February 2010
‘The Gathering you’re in and not just at’
Greetings all!
We have some exciting news to share with you in anticipation of the 2010 Gathering.
First, we have a Frances Fundraising Event not to be missed!
Frances and Friends go to the movies...
...on Sunday 22 November at 4pm with a family afternoon organized at the Trak Cinema, Greenhill Road, Burnside.
For just $10 per ticket you can view Scott Hick’s latest film, "The Boys are Back". Also, tickets for our Christmas hampers will be on sale.
Tickets need to be pre-purchased so call Melanie on 0402 482 941 or the FFG mobile 0431 137 573 for details on how to get your tickets. Limited numbers are available so don’t miss out!
(A portion of every ticket goes to fund the costs we need to cover so we can keep the Gathering free. We need your support.)
Check the website for more details.
Workshops for 2010 - Applications now open
We now have a live page on the website for those of you, or your friends, who would like to run a workshop at Frances in 2010. You can register your interest now and one of us will contact you when we get the program underway.
To register for a workshop, go to the website and click on the "Workshops" page or click on the "Latest News" workshops item. (Or, just click here to apply now).
If you know someone else who would like to run a workshop, either print off the application form for them or direct them to the application page on the website.
Competition Entries Open - November 1st
So don’t forget to get in early!! On Nov 1 - check the categories that are open to you and have a gander at the rules as well.
As you would realise, limited spaces are available in all categories – otherwise we’d be judging ALL weekend!! – so, when the competition entries open on November 1st, select the ones that best suit your talents and levels of confidence!
You can enter on line (that's the best way), or you can print the entry form and post it to us, or give us a call and we'll put an entry in for you. Our contact details (including our volunteer-staffed phone) are on the contacts page on the website.
We're FREEeeee!
Finally... Frances remains FREE!
This happens in two ways.
First, there are thousands of volunteer hours put into the event.
What shape does your contribution take? Check out the website to see how you can contribute – delivering posters to your folk club, helping out on the weekend...
Second, we have to raise money – in three general ways –
- our own fundraisers (like the movie afternoon coming up),
- getting grants (an increasingly difficult and competitive business),
- and seeking sponsorship.
Please think about what you can do (every bit helps) – on the weekend or during the year - and get in touch through our volunteers page on the website.
Our poster will be available soon so keep your eyes on the website – it truly is the font of all Frances knowledge!
It’s Free, it’s Fun, it’s Frances!
We look forward to seeing you there!
Chris Edwards-Leis on behalf of the Frances Folk Gathering Coordinating Group.
