Newsletter June 20th 2009

Greetings all!

Just a quick newsletter to keep you up to date with Frances happenings.  First and foremost – GREAT NEWS!! – the Frances Folk Gathering has won the Naracoorte and Lucindale Business and Tourism Association award for Community Event of the Region

Congratulations to everyone who comes along to keep Frances Gathering just that way – fun, friendly and community-focussed.  But especial congratulations to the townsfolk who open their doors to us every year and to all who work so hard throughout the year to look after the Frances spirit.

Don’t forget that there’s a triple DVD available of this year’s 10th Birthday Party Gathering - a great bargain at $25  Just go to http://www.scheffilmproductions.com/shop.html

The Gathering just can’t happen without heaps of dedicated background work going on but please know that we continue to battle for funding and, for a couple of reasons, this year is tougher than ever. Please put your thoughts to any ideas for organisations we can approach with a view either to applying for grants or to negotiate sponsorship.

Also – do you have a local folk club or other (eg tourism) organisation with a newsletter?  If so, perhaps you (or someone you know) could become one of our ‘Frances Correspondents’ and write occasional pieces promoting the Gathering and keeping folk informed.  Remember as well to keep folk signing up for this newsletter – a great way to spread the Frances word.  Every little helps!

Adelaide Folk (or anyone else if you’re around at the time), make a note in your diaries for the second amazing FolkWIZZ happening at the Folk Centre.  It’s again on the first Saturday of September – that’s the 5th

Now last year’s inaugural FolkWIZZ was a great success  – with the brilliant wit, wisdom and wanderings of your host Paul Reynolds.  This year we guarantee that as well as there being competing teams from the clubs there’ll be the usual quiz format for you to make up your own table and have a go at Mr Reynolds’ Curly Questions.

Come along, join in, and help is raise much-needed funds for the Gathering.  And we’ve two requests of you....

Can you help with prizes please?  Also, have you any FolkWIZZ questions of your own you’d like to submit?

If you can help with prizes or quiz questions or have any queries about FolkWIZZ please get in touch via FolkWIZZ@francesfolkgathering.com.au

Oh, and one final thing. You might like to know Andrew Clermont will be in town  for a couple of weeks at the end of June.

Very best wishes to everyone from us all
