The Future Folk Youth Marquee

Developing tomorrow’s performers today!
FutureFolk are the people who will carry forward folk music into the years and generations to come – whether children and teenagers, or older folk perhaps finding their way with folk music or with a new instrument - FutureFolk workshops and sessions are aimed at those who will appreciate a slower pace and an understanding that their skills are 'under construction'.
The FutureFolk programme is held in a separate marquee, with musical events alongside activities such as face painting and crafts.
The programme includes:
- Workshops, aimed at a ‘learner’ level, including stagecraft and ensemble playing.
- Sessions, with a bit of guidance and at a gentle pace.
- Blackboard Concert, with opportunities for budding sound engineers and MC’s as well as performers who feel the main stage is not yet ready for them.
- Crafts and activities aimed mainly at children, but also for anyone interested – planned events include making instruments, face painting, balloon animals, children’s entertainer, etc.
- Competitions – the junior sections of the competitions are held in the Future Folk marquee, also the Learners Encouragement section which is open to learners of all ages. (Want to enter? Go to the competitions page (open for entries on November 1st). Make sure you read the rules too!
Please come along either to join in, or to see what we are up to – we need an audience too! Be the first to hear the up-and-coming performers who will be entertaining you in years to come!
If you have any questions about this area, or can suggest/offer to run a suitable activity, please contact us at futurefolk@francesfolkgathering.com.au.
(Please note that we are not able to provide child minding facilities: children remain the responsibility of their parents/guardians at all times.)
